Renaissance Project
In English I was a little worried about understanding the content, but I was able to be creative on how I approached the creation of my character. It was an adventure making connections between my character and historical events which helped my visually understand life during the Renaissance.
History really took an interesting turn and went in depth about all the crazy ideas in curing disease and the fear of witches. what I enjoyed the most in this subject was learning how they spoke and greeted each other during the Renaissance.
To be honest I thought that the math portion of this project was going to be super boring and it actually was a lot of fun beating my friends at old school black jack. It was very interesting learning about the gamblers fallacy and how they played it save when playing games that were based on chance.
This project was not as challenging mainly because I knew what I was going to the entire time which was pretty reassuring, but along the way there was the occasional all nighters followed by naps on the tables. Things really became stressful towards exhibition time but that's always expected so over all I say it was 6 out of ten
The biggest challenge over all was communication because a lot of people drifted off and that made it really confusing to make sure we were on the right shift during exhibition.
During the project I was able to receive feedback on my individual writing piece by my group and they suggested to add a family crest for my character to show his families success and it was a very helpful idea because it looked way better after that.
I’m not sure how I feel about it, It looks pretty good but if I had more time I know that I would for sure make some changes to make it look its absolute best.
I love how we looked the setting of the classroom, it was all very aesthetically pleasing with the music, sound effects, and how we dressed the part. I just had a problem with how we presented, all we really did was introduced our characters whole life story and that we make swords. I feel that it didn’t leave any impact as they left or that they even learned anything.
It was fun pretending to make swords and ask what they wanted and what kind of sword they were interested in. They really had a kick out of that especially how we turned the vent into a furnace.
If I would change anything about the project it would be the way we presented and to really go in depth behind they way people spoke and possibly have a rehearsal and practice what we were going to say and maybe learn a few words in our characters language. I took the time to learn some words in Italian and build up an accent. I would also change parts of my individual writing piece like tea stain it and possibly draw out the swords myself because sure my characters family was wealthy enough to purchase a printing press but it would be fun to do myself.
I really didn’t take into account how similar we are to the Renaissance in how during that time there were so many changes going on and historical people taking actions that changed the course of history. What really got me thinking was back then no one acknowledged that they were living in the Renaissance and now we refer to that as the Renaissance and maybe this current time period will be referred to as something but we never acknowledge that.
